In that column, I proclaimed that we would announce the names of our winners today. Well, what is it they say about best-laid plans?
The winners have been chosen, but I can't tell you who they are yet. Why? Because we live in the Age of the Internet, that's why. And as wonderful as the Age of the Internet can be, it poses certain, er, challenges.
The rules were simple: Readers would carve a pumpkin and post a photo at theeagle.com, and the winners would get prizes -- once we verified who the winners were.
And therein lies the rub. We got a bunch of fine entries, and our judges were most impressed. They agonized over their choices, then we notified the winners.
